The purpose of the association as stated in the constitution are:

Foster a strong relationship among Maliyadeva College past pupils living in Australia to create a cultural and ethnic identity for the community.

Establish welfare and support structure for the members and their families living in Australia to maintain a healthy life-style and sustain community well-being

To provide a forum for the members and their families and friends to enjoy, celebrate and participate in Sri Lankan culture and arts to stimulate the interest and appreciation of values embedded in it

Undertake activities for the social, economic and technological advancement of mainstream Sri Lanka

Extend goodwill and build partnership with organisations and individuals in Sri Lanka and Australia to realize the purposes of the Association
